OIG / SAM Exclusion
Federal lists of individuals barred from Medicare/Medicaid or federal contracts.
Definition
The HHS Office of Inspector General List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and the SAM.gov exclusion list identify people and organizations barred from federally funded healthcare programs or federal contracts. Required check for any healthcare employer billing Medicare or Medicaid; civil monetary penalties for hiring an excluded individual can reach the maximums set annually under 42 CFR §1003.
