How SafestHires Supports Crossover Background Checks for Education and IT Roles

Crossover uses SafestHires for criminal-focused screening, with international criminal history and adverse media for international IT positions.
Short answer
What background checks does SafestHires provide for Crossover?
SafestHires supports Crossover's education and IT hiring with a criminal-focused package: SSN Address Trace, 7 Year County Criminal History, Federal Criminal History and Global Watchlists. For Crossover's international IT positions, SafestHires also runs international criminal history and adverse media. The SSN trace supports address research; watchlists and adverse media are distinct from criminal court records. Crossover's official support guide explains the applicant onboarding process.
SafestHires serves Crossover, which hires for education and IT roles. Crossover's main website highlights education hiring and also describes fully remote technology jobs. Its education opportunities include remote, hybrid and on-campus roles; this article does not describe every Crossover position as remote.
Crossover publicly identifies SafestHires as its background-check partner in its official background-check process guide. The package below reflects the current services confirmed by SafestHires, rather than assumptions about what a remote employer might order.
Crossover's criminal-focused screening package
The current package includes these four searches:
- SSN Address Trace
- 7 Year County Criminal History
- Federal Criminal History
- Global Watchlists
SSN Address Trace
An SSN Address Trace develops associated names and address history to help identify places for further record research. It supports the criminal-history searches but is not itself a criminal-record search.
7 Year County Criminal History
This component searches county criminal court records within the package's seven-year scope. It is separate from the federal criminal-history component.
Federal Criminal History
This component searches U.S. federal criminal court records. County and federal searches cover different court systems; one should not be described as a replacement for the other.
Global Watchlists
Global watchlist screening searches sanctions and watchlist sources. It is a distinct screening component, not a search of every country's criminal court records.
Additional screening for international IT positions
For Crossover's international IT positions, SafestHires also runs:
- International Criminal History
- Adverse Media
These are additional components for the international IT positions described here. They should not be read as a claim that every Crossover applicant receives the same international searches.
Adverse media screening looks for potentially relevant information in public news and other media. An allegation in a news story is not, by itself, proof of criminal conduct. Adverse media and criminal-history searches are therefore described separately.
Where applicants start the background-check process
Crossover's published support guide describes an onboarding handoff from Crossover to a SafestHires screening portal and back to Crossover. In outline, the guide directs applicants to:
- Start the background-check step within their Crossover onboarding account.
- Follow the instructions in the SafestHires portal and complete the requested applicant information and forms.
- Keep the reference order number provided after submission.
- Return to Crossover using the provided link and complete the relevant onboarding submission step.
For the exact screens, documents and instructions applicable to your application, use Crossover's official background-check guide and the instructions in your onboarding account. This overview is not a replacement for that guide. Applicant questions about Crossover onboarding should go to Crossover Support.
Pricing and getting started with SafestHires
This article does not publish Crossover's negotiated package price. Other employers can use the SafestHires pricing calculator to explore listed search prices and schedule a call to discuss a package, including international searches.
SafestHires has no setup fees and no term contract. Employers ready to get started can read the Master Services Agreement and complete the client sign-up form. These employer links are not a substitute for Crossover's applicant onboarding process.
Questions about Crossover background checks
Does the package include employment or education verification?
Employment and education verifications are not part of the current Crossover package described here. The confirmed scope is the four-search criminal-focused package, with international criminal history and adverse media for international IT positions.
Does Global Watchlists mean international criminal history?
No. Watchlists and criminal court records are different sources. Crossover's international IT screening includes international criminal history as a separate component.
How long does a Crossover background check take?
No current Crossover-specific turnaround commitment is stated here. Check your onboarding instructions and contact Crossover Support for questions about your application rather than treating a general screening statistic as a deadline.
