49 CFR Part 40 is the U.S. Department of Transportation's procedural rulebook for drug and alcohol testing of safety-sensitive transportation workers. It governs specimen collection, lab analysis, MRO review, and the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse query that is mandatory for CDL drivers pre-employment and annually thereafter.
