Indiana at a glance
- Report lookback: 7 years (FCRA default; expanded for higher-pay roles). IC §24-4-18 generally limits criminal-history reporting on convictions older than seven years; an exception applies for positions paying $75,000+.
- Ban-the-box: Public sector. HEA 1033 (2017) preempted local private-employer ordinances; state agencies removed the conviction question by executive order.
- Salary history: No restriction. No statewide salary-history ban.
- Cannabis: Illegal. Indiana has not legalized cannabis in any form. Standard testing policies apply.
